Free Society Academics (FSA) is a nonprofit homeschool enrichment program based in Costa Mesa, CA. Founded in 2020, we serve TK through 8th grade students through a 34-week academic year program and a summer camp.

FSA operates as a 2-day in-person learning center, with an optional free curriculum day. This hybrid model gives families the structure and community of in-person learning while preserving the flexibility of homeschooling.

No. FSA is a homeschool enrichment program. Your student remains enrolled with their charter school (or files as a private homeschool, known as a PSA), and FSA serves as an enrichment vendor supporting your homeschool journey.

No. FSA is a drop-off program. Parents drop off their students and our instructors and staff take it from there.

Our unit studies are cross-curricular, designed to satisfy and support your student’s core curriculum requirements and enrichment electives. Core subjects include science, language arts, history, and math, with electives such as constitutional studies, art, debate, speech, and STEM. Classes are led by an instructor and are intended to provoke curiosity and inspire learning.

Monthly program fees are set by grade band (TK, K–4th, and 5th–8th). Visit our Program Cost page for current rates and the curriculum included at each level.

A non-refundable $400 registration fee is issued once your student’s spot has been confirmed. It covers your student’s curriculum and supplies for the year and secures their place for the school year. This fee cannot be paid with charter instructional funds — it is paid out of pocket upon receipt of your registration invoice.

Yes! We accept virtual homeschool charter funds, which can cover most of your program fees. We are currently an enrichment vendor for Excel Academy and Suncoast Preparatory Academy. If you would like us to become an approved vendor for your charter, please contact us at enrollfsa@gmail.com and request your charter. If you are interested in learning more about our partner charters, contact us and we can connect you with a representative.

*By law, charter funds can only be used for fully non-sectarian courses and curriculum. All courses offered by FSA are fully non-sectarian.

Families who do not use instructional funds have the option of establishing a payment plan. To find information about filing a PSA, please visit the Homeschool Association of California’s website.

Yes — we’d love to show you around! You can schedule a tour to see FSA in person before making your decision.

Class sizes are limited and enrollment is first come, first served. Once enrollment is full, students are placed on a waiting list and we’ll contact you if a spot opens.

No. Enrollment at FSA is a binding full-year commitment. We plan our staffing, classroom communities, and curriculum around committed enrollment, so cancellation is not available once you enroll. Please be sure FSA is the right fit for your family before committing.

As the primary educator, you must initiate and verify a charter funds order at the commencement of every month your child is enrolled with FSA, in accordance with your charter school’s requirements.

If FSA does not receive your student’s charter funds after the deadline, you will be invoiced for that month.

Every charter school handles requests differently — some parents input orders themselves online, some email their educational coordinator, some fill out a form, and some need monthly pricing broken down by line item. Once you have registered for classes, you will receive an invoice you can use as a reference to request your PO according to your charter’s process.

Students come home with work samples each week. Families are in charge of coordinating their student’s work with their charter school, including submitting samples and any documentation your educational coordinator requires.

Playground is our Program Management System — an app FSA uses to manage most communications, student and parent information, course information, documents, student updates, payment processing, and check-in/check-out.

Upon registration, each parent/guardian listed during enrollment will receive a personalized invitation code to set up their account. Please do not share your invitation code. Most communication is processed through Playground, so it is the parent’s responsibility to check it weekly.

Our annual traditions include talent shows, market fairs, field trips, Christmas performances, and a graduation ceremony — plus plenty of community-building moments throughout the 34-week year.

Yes! FSA partners with EEC during the summer and runs a summer camp with its own enrichment curriculum. Registration details are announced each spring.
